Nope, it’s just a way to dismiss trans people and be shitty to us. People can be assholes and overcome it but that doesn’t inherently mean they were “male/female socialised”. There’s no one-way to grow up and many, MANY of us are disconnected from that expectation.

I was socialized as a male because I’m male. Trans women were socialized as males. In some way or another. That’s a fact. And yes transphobes use it to be shitty and that’s not okay but it doesn’t change that fact.

How is it bullshit? I may not have been included with males in certain ways but I did have traditional male roles enforced on me, I was expected to be around my brothers more than my sister, I did have male privilege, etc.

I’ve seen this argument used multiple times before and it’s simply false. You cannot be a biological woman or man. Trans women are biologically male (usually) and when you take estrogen or have surgeries you become less male and more intersex or female.

I’ve been speaking GENERALLY this entire time. I’m not saying ALL trans women are biologically male. But you literally can’t change your chromosomes or reproductive system. You don’t know any thing about either chromosomes or reproductive systems. When you take hormones and become infertile… you changed your reproductive system. When you get SRS you change your reproductive system. When your prostate becomes hypoplastic due to androgen insufficiency, you changed your reproductive system. Chromosomes now… first off, none of us know our chromosomes unless you’ve been karyotyped. Second off, chromosomes are just one small part of sexual maturation

i think gendered socialization theory can be valid in the way it observes how a misogynistic society affects women and creates unnecessary gendered divides. unfortunately its been hijacked by dumb ass terfs to push an agenda against trans women that makes zero sense. theres no way trans women would be socialized as men as part of socialization is how you see yourself vs how the world sees you.
