hipaa can protect you to some extent but you may need to go out of your way to ask that the explanation of benefits be altered/sent somewhere else and it will be affected by state law so do your own research

most insurances have a copay to appointments and at the beginning of each year when the deductible resets each appointment/dose needs to be payed in full, so i dont think its possible to get away with getting t without it leaving some kind of payment record that your parents wouldnt notice

i don't think HIPAA would be very helpful here, unfortunately. OP's parents are unlikely to call their drs directly, but my mom (insurance holder) could see my drs and how much my medical bills were on our online insurance portal. if you fill a prescription at a pharmacy it is extremely high risk they'll run it through insurance even if you ask them not to. their systems are designed to run absolutely everything through insurance. you'd have to check with your specific plan with bcbs to see if

they cover t. there should be a number on your insurance card for who administers your pharmacy benefits bc typically a health insurance will provide medical benefits and contract out pharmacy benefits (a Pharmacy Benefits Manager). if you can find your plan's name, you should be able to look up your insurance's formulary (a list of covered prescriptions) online.

some plans work like that, but some work like where you pay a copay at each appt, but then when you go pick up your prescription it's a set copay for most meds. when i see my dr it's $10 and then i pick up my t gel and it's $15/30 days. insurance is a mess so it's hard to say what exactly to expect OP.
