what makes me uncomfortable is how it’s been sloganized/popularized to the point that idk if someone who says it/wears the shirt/etc actually cares about trans women or if we’re just being tokenized

(It’s the subtle implication that trans women are only worth protecting if they’re fully passing and attractive) (as well as the implication that the rest of the trans community doesn’t matter)

first part maybe, second part no. highlighting a marginalized group doesn’t mean the rest of the community doesn’t matter, that’s dangerously close to “all lives matter” rhetoric.

especially considering that "dolls" has originally always referred to Black and Latina trans women specifically

yeah exactly. it’s a little iffy. i get some of the fatigue around this phrase, but i also never see the same backlash for “protect trans kids” (which implies adult trans people don’t matter, i guess?) so .

Yea that’s what I don’t like about it. It feels performative as fuck half the time nowadays.
