Wanting to get on HRT after knowing am trans for 3 years but my state is relatively backwards... idk even where to start here in Georgia especially without insurance

i have a friend that got theirs through "plume" in tennessee, but it was like $99/month without insurance

planned parenthood has sliding scale payment and was fantastic for me (and one of the only options in my area (although i did telehealth at first) that did informed consent vs having to get a therapist to confirm you're trans before they'll prescribe anything). greetings and good luck from a fellow southerner (NC)

also i don't trust they'll be good (or even cover at all, bc we live in the US and also the south) for HRT, but in general, can you see if you can get on medicaid? for all its bullshit, it really is better to have coverage than not, not just for emergencies but regular dental cleanings and annual physicals. medicaid.georgia.gov/ there are free/low cost clinics esp for those w/o insurance (here's a good starting list: https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html/georgia_free_health_care_clini.html)

and you can call the ones closest to you to see if any of their drs can prescribe HRT. it's a pain in the ass, and a lot of calls (sometimes. sometimes you get lucky), but HRT is really worth it, and these services a lot of the time have a lot of other resources to help you out in general

hey i'm so so so sorry, i checked online and none of the PPs in GA prescribe gender affirming care. i can't delete my original comment without deleting the replies too, but if you live close to the border maybe you can go to another state that does prescribe it if you want to go through them? my friend also used folx and really liked it, similar to plume
