I feel like most people use dude in a gender neutral way, but there are def people who will say learn a woman is trans. and use terms like that more frequently in an attempt to skirt around properly gendering her. it's similar to people constantly "they"-ing a trans person, word itself is gender neutral in most contexts but usage and situation def matters

It is gender neutral but bothers some trans women so I’ll ask every once in a while 🤷‍♀️

I feel like it depends on context, like referring to someone as a dude (e.g. “that dude”) is definitely gendered and would be transphobic, however, using the word dude at someone for emphasis (e.g. “dude, thats so crazy”) is neutral imo

“Dude” is masculine. Idk what you mean by diet transphobia, its just a gendered word

i wouldn’t call it transphobia. definitely a reflection of how masculinity is taken as the norm 🤷‍♂️ but i use it too so i can’t really talk lol

Naw I’m a trans girl Just don’t mind being called dude because it was so burnt into my brain that we’re all dudes growing up

now if someone is trans and feels dysphoric being called certain terms then I think where those terms classify should obv go out the window for people who are aware

Mhm yea like I tell all my friends to not call me “dude” or “man” or similar things cause it makes me uncomfortable. I didn’t do all this transitioning to just end up getting called masculine things anyways. But I know they don’t actually mean it as a way to misgender me. Tbh I just get annoyed with the whole societal thing of treating masculine terms as gender neutral by default cause mf it’s LITERALLY the word “man”😭 I think that’s a lil bit bullshit ngl.

I think this also applies the other way around for girl, esp in the context of gay slang. Im transmasc and when a gay guy says something like “girl, bye” I don’t take it as them calling me a girl, if that makes sense

Mhm yea I try to avoid calling my NB or trans guy friends “girl” for the same reason. It’s not something they outright asked me to do but it’s like very much not difficult lol
