Being stealth and working in EMS in the Deep South is kinda funny sometimes bc some of my patients will rant to me about how they don’t believe in trans ppl and I’m just there like uh huh yeah the enemy is closer than u think buddy

i always wondered with EMS if someone's birth sex (and if they're on HRT and how long) matters for the meds/treatment you'd use? like how is that handled

Meds r typically “standard dose” or weight based so gender/sex doesn’t really matter as much in terms of meds we can give in EMS. Treatments can differ depending on previous history since trans men can present with miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, etc. and trans women can present with testicular torsion & penile injuries which we wouldn’t see with cis patients of the same genders, respectively
