“You won’t be Trans or Autistic if you turn to Jesus and go to heaven.” So then I wouldn’t be me at all. Good thing I don’t care for the place. 💅🏼

I’m trans and autistic and Christian and the Bible is actually really affirming to my identity, too bad overt evangelicals never read their own text

i appreciate the bible as a set of stories to teach morals but not as hard history and law ykwim? not christian now but raised heavily christian, but like yeah the mixed fabric thing? like no you can’t just pick and choose what you think should/shouldn’t be considered a sin, not how that works babes you either stick with all of it or admit the religious excuses are flimsy af

I like how all of the “logic” people use to decide the Bible says u should be transphobic only exists if u are hyper transphobic

It also says to kill nonbelievers and not wear mixed fabrics, so I don’t really care for it however it’s read and interpreted.

verses like that are taken out of proper context, just like the verses that are supposedly about gay/trans people :)

exactly, Bible scholars widely agree that certain verses are aimed at certain audiences and that they often don’t mean the same thing now as they did when applied to contemporary contexts. but there’s so many people who are violently uneducated on their own religion, it’s deplorable. wish more Christians internalized the themes of the stories rather than point at single verses and treat them as law

the Bible has so much about transformation, especially related to identity, but no one actually reads it anymore. like always, homophobes love staying uneducated about literally everything
