the information collection listed such as gender, sexuality, and immigration status is also the same as in the UK privacy policy, and it only applies to information you give the app. if that’s something you are worried about i totally understand it, but most apps store data like that unfortunately, especially through user surveys.
and i totally understand the fear and worry and the wording of the information collected in this day and age also made me scared, but it’s the same in other countries, too. if that’s something you’re worried about, i absolutely don’t blame someone for not being on social media, but unfortunately it’s not new or unique to tiktok, stuff like that has been collected for ages
it’s a scary world out there and i hate that the wording is frightening to many and i was skeptical at first too, but it’s not targeted towards US citizens, it’s there to clarify what data they can collect if you give it to them through surveys, etc. and it’s not new to the new policies. i hate that there’s fear mongering around stuff like this to make people more afraid, but i also understand the fear. do what makes you feel safest, if this still is something you’re worried about!!
if it’s something that does concern you, please do be aware so many apps do this and have been doing it for a while, and you can get them to delete your saved data (different for each app, unfortunately), but this isn’t a new change, it’s been around, and i’m very sorry if that’s scary but deleting one app without requesting data deletion from them won’t change much
