also idk much about ffs but i have to have drains in my arms and if u need anything like that know that it might hurt really badly but keep reminding urself its all worth it, this is literally what you want and what you signed up for and its going to be amazing before you know it. congratulations!!

Yes. One does not know how truly awful it is to have to your face ripped off and sewn back into place until it’s done. I don’t say this to scare anyone, I say this so if you get those horrible thoughts which are so so common, you are prepared and know that it’s normal and that so many of us have made it through okay on the other side. FFS is a very bad surgery recovery, I could do nothing but silently cry for about the first 24 hours… but you make it through it 🫶

well know that my drains hurt so bad im getting them out on wednesday and one caused a bruise on my elbow for some reason and i keep having to just say "this is what i wanted and soon my life is going to be better than its ever been" over and over until the advil kicks in

Huh ive never heard of that. My roomie didn’t have it when she got ffs earlier this month and my doctor mentioned nothing about drains either

they werent a big point of conversation before i had surgery, only briefly mentioned. but again i got top surgery not ffs so idk

They improve outcomes, there is a lot of literature on it. Not from an aesthetic perspective, but a healing one

You might be surprised at how quickly you find a new normal when the worst of the swelling goes down! Took me about two weeks before I looked still puffy, but closer to where I am now. The worst of the visuals don’t last long. You’ll just be very sensitive still. 😊

hey btw after i got the drains removed (only had to have them for 8 days, im now 17 days post op) my quality of life went way up

Drains aren’t as common for FFS and usually are removed the first or second day after surgery if they are used at all. :)
