The point of transitioning is to become more authentically you. Not to box yourself into another label or gendered restrictions. People may not get it and make you doubt yourself. But at the end of the day what matters is that you’re happy with the person you are. That being said, people like things that are clearly defined. So you will have to be patient and give grace to those that get confused but want to be supportive.

it's fine. know that passing does help a lot in certain social situations but it's not necessary.

I’m in a queer city, living in a gayborhood. Fuck the idea of conforming to standards of people who don’t give a shit about me. Passing has it’s merits sure, but to pretend like i won’t be discriminated against either way is absurd. Might aswell look like myself.

Yes ofc! I just think so many trans people are expected to be very polar with their gender expression and for a lot of us being hypermasculine/femme is extremely validating. It just also is frustrating when those outside our community see someone who is not conforming to that standard and question whether or not they are actually trans. I look afab to the untrained eye but because I tend to dress more butch, I’ve had so many people tell me that I am actually nonbinary or showing regrets from E.
