if you have a uterus going to the ER, be aware they're almost definitely going to pregnancy test you. it's bc pregnancy is good to rule out, and many drugs and procedures need caution/can't be used during pregnancy. it can suck, and it's also routine

it feels shitty as hell to be reminded i can get pregnant. i hope this makes it a little easier if it happens to anyone in the future

im still very happy with my last ER experience, i was having abysmal pain in the upper right quadrant (gallbladder) and while one of the nurses suggested “ovarian torsion” (how the fuck would an ovary get to where my gallbladder was), not once were they going “pregnant? anxiety? weight? etc” and took me seriously. bless that team

You can sometimes opt out, but you need to sign something saying you accept the risk or whatever. But having the fight to do that while at the ER is a whole thing on its own

yeah, i know abt opt outs. it's the reminder that i can get pregnant at all in the first place that's the issue, not the getting tested itself. my dad doesn't have to worry about feeling shitty because the dr ran a pregnancy test on him. i wish i had that.
