He was my favorite character (I understand that’s a hot take) and honestly I think the anticlimactic nature of his death was perfect. He’s a foot soldier in a nuclear war and there’s no glory to be had

His death was fine his overall arc was mishandled, they treat him as a bitter ex In the show, in the book he's a bit more complex and you understand why he's a piece of shit
