I will never understand how people say TLOAS isn’t poetic. Opalite uses powerful imagery to convey a very specific emotion of finding joy in love in a dark time… Of course that’s just one example, but there are so many more

As an English (student) teacher, this is exactly right. Way too many people conflate flowery language with “real poetry” and don’t consider metaphor or imagery to be valid poetry unless it has big words that sound pretty
