I fear it’s just par for the course for whenever a Taylor album release happens at this point with how unprecedentedly huge she is in the social media age. But ultimately it doesn’t matter in the long run. The TTPD hate was much worse and they literally said it was CAREER ENDING yet here we are and she’s still breaking records left and right. At the end of the day social media discourse seems like a massive deal in the moment and then it passes and is forgotten.
And guess what, this album is thousands of people’s favorite album, yes it’s different from all her other albums, and if you don’t like it that’s fine, but until you can right an album and sell millions around the world I don’t want to hear “putting out good” bc this is some peoples gold, so just bc you don’t like means you have to hate on it
That’s actually no where near what I meant when saying that. All I’m saying is the past 4 albums for the most part have been sad, and everyone is like “where is the lyricism” in this album all I was saying was that not all of her songs have to be gut wrenching in order to be good, obvi not all her songs are “depressing” I’m just saying for the past like 5 years we’ve gotten so many folky, sad melody’s, that this is in my opinion something new and theatrical and I’m happy she’s venturing out
except she’s literally said multiple times that she loves this album and wouldn’t change it? you don’t have to like it but you also don’t have to diminish those who DO like it or her artistry by saying it was “rushed” or that it “wasn’t ready l” or by even acting like it’s “not as good.” it’s not as good to YOU, that is subjective.
