I disagree. People didn’t like rep bc it was the complete opposite of what she promised, and she started the lover era with me! and it was also very poorly received. I think if showgirl came after lover, people would’ve been like “yea, she’s done with making good music”. Obviously art subjective but a third “meh” album in a row would not make it seem better

My thing is people that don’t like this album have typically placed Taylor in a box of not being able to have certain lyrics. Like they’re okay with Sabrina singing Tears and Chappell singing all that she does, but once Taylor dives into that world, it’s game over. Just interesting imo. Not saying you’re doing that, just seems to be the trend this go around.

Ok maybe promised wasn’t the right word here, but we all expected a record that was dark and about revenge. Lwymmd got hate when it first came out for being corny and i remember people didn’t like it bc it was just a love album.

Girl be serious. Reputation got hate (all albums did) but she absolutely peaked with those songs because nobody expected them from America’s sweetheart.
