Hey soo friends of mine keep telling me Taylor is racist and how she dated a 17 yr old while she was like 22 and how she said black people are savage and she’s maga and how she copied a Jackson 5 song to talk about sex soooo how da hell do I respond help

She did date a 17 year old when she was either 21 or 22 so that’s true and I can’t (nor should anyone) defend that. Shes never been outwardly racist but she’s done some things that don’t have a good look but again, she has black back up singers and dancers (the singers have been around for forever) so if she really was as racist as people say she is I doubt they would work for and continue to work for her

She has maga friends which is questionable but again, she’s pretty clear not maga and I kinda agree with them about wood? I don’t like it and it does sound like the Jackson 5 so I can’t help you there. Personally, you should just dump these friends. If they can’t see any nuance in anything, they’re just gonna make your life hell.

If you do wanna fight back, start talking shit about their favorite artists. Taylor may be a billionaire but she’s doing more good than most others. At least she donates to food banks and to people privately.

Honestly concerned and they saying she got me that she has white privilege and wanted to go back to slavery times I want to defend her but everything I say there like she got you you Ned help you’re just proving my point can someone more experienced with this help me lol. People always seem to respect and not care of me liking her but these certain friends just keep sending hate and shade I just idk

They’re just regurgitating crap they’ve seen online. Her whole point about the 1800s is that they seem nostalgic but in reality they sucked and if she’d actually been there she’d hate it, nostalgia is a minds trick which leads back to relationships not slavery. As for the og post those are all similar minus the dating a 17 yo. She never said black people are savage, she’s a vocal liberal and very anti maga and didn’t copy Jackson 5 or she’d be in a lawsuit about it. L

I think the problem is that Taylor only works with white people and she doesn’t have poc telling her how certain lines could come across to her non-white fans. I think it is important to acknowledge that these lines she has written can have racist connotations even if that wasn’t the intention. She just doesn’t have anyone helping her edit and it comes across as Taylor not understanding how other women can be more oppressed than her
