I like some of the lyrics and I do think the album does have some of her best songs and writing of all time, but also some of her worst. Also, I like to listen to albums from start to end and i usually like the story that it tells. I just felt that with TTPD, it wasn’t as cohesive as other problems. And i normally don’t care about the length of an album but the gems of TTPD are kinda lost in the 31 tracks. It’s not my least fave for sure but it’s in my bottom 5
Crazy take, that willingly sitting with a work more then once is Stockholm syndrome. Sometimes when you listen more then once you can see more then you did the first time, and you can appreciate the 80% of the album that isn’t cringe rather then hyper fixating at the bad parts when they jump out during a first listen
I agree, it usually takes me like 4 listens to fully appreciate an album. But something in the songs have to keep me coming back for a second time. Whether it’s the beats or the lyrics, something in the song has to tell me to come back to it again. I personally cant listen to a song that I enjoyed nothing about the first time I heard it. But that’s me
