I mean, you should learn it. Not to use it necessarily but to be familiar with it as it is advancing in the world around us

I use AI for accessibility tools. I’ve been able to be a lot more present and ask questions in lectures with the real time transcriptions tool the university uses.

A sentient skidmark would be the only type to downvote this.

Why should people want me to struggle more when there is a tool to help me get the same education as my fully hearing counterpart?

Because it’s destroying the world? There are other accessibility options that don’t actively pollute our water, destroy our forests, steal the water we have, steal art, steal jobs, and hasten our climate change.

This is literally the same argument people were having when the internet became normal. Also if you watch more than 10 minutes on a streaming platform or scrolling on TikTok it’s using more water than a chat gpt prompt but no one wants to have that conversation.

Large data centres can consume as much water in a day as a city of 50,000 people. Every 100 words is a full water bottle of consumption. Millions of queries every single day. ChatGPT alone uses enough electricity in a day to charge 8 million phones. Many centres don’t even keep track of their electricity and water consumption. Communities have been told to cut back on their water consumption so data centres can use more. It’s often inaccurate, it hallucinates, it steals, it ravages resources.

Seek captioning from CART services or an interpreter. You’re entitled to that access, by law.

CART services do use AI and that is the kind of service my school is using. I’m not deaf, just hard of hearing in auditorium type situations where there’s echoing and muffling so an interpreter is kinda useless in that situation as I don’t know ASL.

Should I also stop using my insulin pump? The closed loop system is considered AI

My prosthetic leg also uses AI to help going up and down stairs… I guess I should just struggle with that too. Definitely the climate change issue would be fixed by those things not the fact if I want to recycle I’m driving 70 miles (not in an electric car because I can’t afford that) to the nearest plant because the one in my town never rebuilt after a tornado last year and that’s the next closest.

No they weren’t 😂 and It literally doesn’t tho. And we have a quantitative and qualitative data to prove that. Your argument is rooted in incorrect information.
