Love this author so much. She (unwittingly) taught me the importance of diversity in media. I’m part Russian but no one else in my town was. After reading her book about her Russian Jewish grandmother and Judaism i was awfully confused as to why I wasnt also Jewish if I was Russian too. So 6 year old me went to my father to ask,“why aren’t we Jewish” and he proceeded to explain to me why. I guess it didn’t help that most of my friends were Jews too so I though that being Jewish was the norm lol
