But then again old testament god was basically just recolored zeus (well-known asshole) so thats not shocking. This isnt me making this up btw a lot of the old testament stories are just blatant retellings of greek mythology

Citation needed. There are some that are clearly stories from the region reframed from an Israelite lense, but its not a “slipped this by the stupid masses”, its an intentional reinterpretation, which was common practice at the time. Its like how we have re-interpreted the Columbus story from being a hero discovering America to a colonialist jerk. New facts weren’t discovered, what was important shifted, and our interpretation to match.

This is like a well-known fact of religion and multiple religions have done this to each other. Heck, stories of the same event change even within the same religion.
