I don’t even understand why anyone CHOOSES to join ICE. The mission of ICE is to basically gather up harmless impoverished marginalized people. Criminal undocumented people are handled by the DOJ, right?

They do a lot more than just arrest illegal immigrants. Out of all the crime enforcement agencies they have historically had the highest amount of child sex offenders arrested

Let’s be real, the answer is often complicated and less grey. Your mother breaks her hip, and before they’ll operate they make you co-sign for the procedure and her 40k dollar debt. You have a part time job doing security for a venue but it’s barely paying the bills. Somebody from Department of Homeland reaches out, and offers you a 50k sign on bonus for 5 years upfront, you’re told you’ll be a boarder agent, helping trace down narcotics trafficking.

However when you arrive, you’re doing the stuff you’ve seen on the news casing neighborhoods a state over, and knocking on people’s doors like a bounty hunter. You go back to your recruiter but they tell you there’s nothing they can do, you signed the contract, and oh btw if you quit. The 50k they gave you (and you only ever saw 25 cuz of taxes) well you owe the full amount back, so buckle up, cuz you’re now stuck working for ICE for the next 5 years.
