Most people should not be on the roads, we need stricter licensing laws for drivers cuz everyone is just in autopilot or on their phones. Don’t care about speeders or whatever it’s the drivers that aren’t paying attention at all

“We need more laws to stop people from breaking the law” bro they already breaking a law what makes you think they won’t break a new one? Unless you mean harsher punishments for getting caught like suspending your license if you’re ticketed for using your phone, but statistically harsher punishments don’t actually deter crime

I’m not talking about road laws, im talking about laws/requirements to get a license. Most people should not have a license, just because they can do a basic maneuver in a parking lot. We have elderly folks that shouldn’t be driving any more because of their perception is just way to slow(not their fault). We have people who get their licenses because pass a quick written test then that means they can some how drive on public roads.

Ok but how the fuck do you restrict people’s ability to GET a license if they haven’t done anything wrong yet? Do you want more strict testing (many states require maneuvers on the drivers test that aren’t even road legal). There is no state where a written test is enough to get a full license, tho retesting with the written test is required to renew your license if you’ve lost 5 or more points (in many states). So I’m confused what your actual solution here is

It’s the drivers who aren’t actively paying attention on what’s happening around them on the roads. I don’t care about speeders because most people who are speeding at paying way more attention then the people who are just cruising down the road going the speed limit. The amount of accidents that I have witnessed just because someone is in autopilot mode (not paying actually attention and just driving) then their brains kick on when they are about to crash.

Right. So how do you actually want to prevent that from happening?

But also you’re factually incorrect. Habitual speeders are twice as likely to use their phones while driving, and those who are distracted while driving are 87% more likely to be traveling more than 10mph over the speed limit

Solution is more required in depth classes( half a semester as if you were in a college class), more areas where people can get practice with different certified driving instructors. Dedicated areas for learning how to drive with real world applications. Learning how to reverse park, drive in reverse fully, not relying on cameras constantly(using your mirrors). Parallel parking, how to properly merge on interstate/highways( consistently getting on and off ramps)

But none of these things prevent distracted driving. They make you a more confident driver, yes. Which is actually correlated with more risky driving behavior. While these are all important and should be done, how does that actually prevent the distracted driving issue?
