Best way to approach someone to have a conversation with them after they’ve been hostile to you, but have reported you as the problem to our boss? Boss suggested we talk it out (I applied for a promotion so I know I need to do this to help that).

if it’s a work talk, i’d have it over messages if possible just so you have a paper trail in the event they try to change the story. it’s going to be scary regardless

Adopting a mix of hr language and real talk could help, but what exactly happened that they reported you for it

I am extremely conflict averse after an extremely toxic manager at my last job. Any conflict has me full body shaking and sweating.

They just said that they felt like we don’t get along. Which yeah… she’s been nasty and rude to me since I started. So I tend to avoid her. She’s also really bad at her job, all of us have spoken about it, so I’m sure our manager has heard I’ve said stuff along with every other person on the team.

I just don’t know how that would work. We sit 1 desk away from each other (it’s literally between us) and anytime I’d send a message it would be from my computer at my desk. And same for her responding. So it would be really weird to be sitting directly next to each other and sending messages like that. She’s in her 50s and not super tech savvy either and isn’t great about checking her messages so idk. I have a 1:1 with my manager since the last one we had (2 weeks ago) when she brought this up
