Depending on what industry u work in, 99% of jobs remeber ur portfolio!! A portfolio is like 90% of what they look at. A resume only weighs a lot if you've worked at some of the best companies in ur industry. A resume can only do so much, a portfolio is the difference between "I can do this" and "proof of what I can do". Everyone can have the same thing in a resume, but not everyone has the same thing in a portfolio. This is how you fight that "you need experience first" bs. Good luck!
9/10 you do, you get told the hiring manager isn’t in and they never call back. A hiring manager is supposed to do THEIR JOB and either hire or don’t hire, ignoring applications is them not doing their jobs. This whole “you have to call them” bullshit needs to stop because why am I doing their job for them. Has nothing to do with showing interest, trust me, they don’t care.
Holy ad hominem, who tf was talking about religion? Low iq move ngl😭 op said 187 different jobs, its not like every single one is gonna be a huge company, you ask most successful ppl in an industry they’ll all say they’ve contacted a hiring manager at least once, it’s about persistence especially when starting out. Someone else said “why should I be doing their job for them?” Then fine, don’t call, the truth is sometimes they just don’t get to ur application.
You are making an absolute statement: there are millions of scenarios where the person who keeps in touch gets hired. I’m using statistic probability. Your bitterness toward religion, when I didn’t even use it in a condescending way but for good will, isn’t based on the reality of this conversation. I will pray for you my friend.
