That’s fair but tbh the issues are so bad with our government I don’t even know where to start or what we could possibly do to fix the problems we’re facing. When both political parties allegiance has been bought we can’t effectively change much of what’s going on rn. And I don’t mean this in a condescending way but what’s your idea for fixing the problems?

My idea of fixing problems is to actively use the system to your advantage, bc of the way it’s set up it’s going to be harder but not impossible. My entire family has worked in law and politics, know your rights, show up to town halls, encourage educated voting at every level not just the presidency, protest, sign petitions, and vote out the people who aren’t helping, help the candidates you want to be in office campaign, help boost unions, if you have time go volunteer for those in need, have

difficult conversations with your families, be adamant about these issues to leadership and if they refuse to help then (this is where building community comes in) then vote in someone better to be in their place, lobbying, it seems like a lot to do and little reward but it’s either that or do nothing. I personally will never suggest doing something illegal just bc that can cause more harm than good for many but I can’t tell ppl what to do, protest in effective ways, grassroots isn’t the only

Form of protest, look up local activists in your area and try meeting with them for specific plans, and I can’t stress enough that community building is important bc even when the government fucks you over having community can save you and I don’t just mean like minded people (as much as I would prefer that) I mean the people you live around, convincing them to be more progressive, caring for the children in the community to give them a better chance, helping school boards, calling things out

when you see them, etc. also to listen to people older than you, most of us on here are relatively young and have had to deal with the affects of trump for a decent portion of our lives, talk to people who had to live before him bc they’ll say his administration is particularly evil. Also listen to current marginalized communities bc while I agree that the things mentioned before are horrible a lot of people like to ignore their own bigotry by just focusing on those and in the end that really only helps a small group of people. All of those things are great and I think you should absolutely do that. Protest is great and it’s important to voice your opinions and beliefs. My problem however is that in the grand scheme of things none of those will get results. Just because your voice is heard does not mean people in power will listen. None of those things will actually have an effect on our problems with the government things are only going to get worse and I don’t really see a possible diplomatic solution at this point

I’m not saying you shouldn’t do any of those things absolutely protest and contribute in your communities but that only makes the general population better the elites that run our government won’t step out of power because we built communities and all grew as people and protested. We need more action and tbh idk what it would be.

Frankly the only action I can assume fits what you’re looking for is a revolution and frankly I’m almost completely against it because of the things I said before. Like I said, it’s a slow process bc government is slow and terms, education on subjects, and protesting takes time. It takes longer to make progress than to reverse it and I know it might sound mean but having a pessimistic attitude is only going to make it worse, if you don’t have any hope then there’s no point. revolution part. The main reasons I’m so against it is because 1. The violence it will bring to civilians 2. Not all revolutions end in positive change 3. The main people pushing for it don’t have the best interests of EVERYONE at heart. I’m not saying this is what you want but I can’t think of anything else that might fill what you’re looking for. Well I’m against revolution as well and while it sounds like the only logical answer to our problems right now I will not take part in that. And while making your present as good as it can be is great I want the world my children and their children live in to be better than what we had but the way things are going it’s only gonna get worse. I’m not pessimistic I’m realistic, I have hope but I’m at a loss for the proper course of action to save our society from inevitable corruption.
