I know someone who had parents who provided them with a “comfortable” life (meaning they kept them fed, gave them a home, bare minimum) and their parents used that as justification to verbally and physically abuse them their whole childhood. They were even SA’d multiple times by their uncle as a child and the parents accused them of wanting attention. Now that they’re moved out and making really great money, their parents are confused on why they won’t talk to them anymore
