this is worded badly. the not political issues should be things like “is it weird and gross for our government to post thirst traps about dehoming people” “should our president have his own social media platform and should he be allowed to post rants on twitter” “is it wrong to generalize an entire race on certain behavior that is caused from socioeconomic issues (brought on from systemic racism)”
One of these columns are local government issues. The other is a rage-bait to make conservatives mad and cry. Either way, one of these makes no sense to even call “political” and the other is just a bunch of stupid nonsense. “Are war crimes bad?” WHAT DO YOU THINK? Jfc. OP is clearly not very bright if they’re posting this.
very very few people on the right would actually agree with the things in the post’s lists. most racist people would not ever say “black people are bad” they think they just have pattern recognition and are comfortable making generalizations off things when they dont understand the cause of those effects
you have GOT to stop exaggerating omg. this is why we (the left) lose elections!!!! to say sydney Sweeney wouldnt agree nazi’s are bad… because she did a commercial that was either very poorly worded or was written by a super super covert white supremacist…. is a stretch. and a stretch ti the point where noones gonna take u seriously anymore.
this is kinda semantic cuz everything is political in some capacity. i think the intent of the meme is to say that social politics / culture war issues (such as support for naziism, racism, misogyny) should not be entertained in any political platforms because it's not deserving of consideration beyond flat out rejection
well... many racists don't actively think "black people are inferior" but they do on a subconscious level. you're basically saying "this is useless because they won't admit to that" but... that's not the point? we're not trying to convince them racists they're racist or misogynists they're misogynistic - were reaffirming our position. and yeah it is a feel good meme for the left. people on the left should feel good that they reject racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc.. i don't see the problem
the original post is “black people are bad” not inferior. i clarified that its more nuanced then that, yes many extreme-right people are genuinely, hatefully racist, but much more are just ignorant/dumb. “black people are bad” represents an observation among both groups. the majority of that observation is based on semantics, primarily that a lot of people think all/most black people act a certain way and that it must be because of their race, theyre too stupid to understand race doesnt affect
behavior, socioeconomic conditions do. those shit conditions affect a lot more black and hispanic communities than any other race. we need to stop saying “you can’t say that” or jump right to “youre racist” for those that say these things (even if, in a way, it is true that theyre racist). lets try correcting them and pointing the finger in the right direction (the socioeconomic capitalistic conditions that “require” a certain percent of americans remain stuck in shit positions in life)
i think we could talk circles around eachother while mostly agreeing. i think my main contention with what you're saying is that it kinda assumes that this post is precise and literal when it's not and it's not supposed to be. i don't think you have to be an "angry liberal" to agree with the sentiment of this post
saying/thinking/believing "black people are bad" is functionally no different than "black people are inferior". you wouldn't say the former if you didn't in some capacity believe in the latter. if those people thought white and asian and latin people were also bad that saying would have no meaning or functional purpose
so then let me ask what good this post does? and can we explore the potential harms? good- its a feel good posts. it gives the left a little dopamine boost of superiority, and possibly a faint feeling of community bad- any right-winger who reads this is gonna scoff and feel reconfirmed in their belief that the left is stupid and doesnt care abt politics beyond feeling morally superior to the world. this is a very common feeling amongst the right, reaffirming that prohibits them that much
first i wanna say i like the way u speak, this conversation feels productive and ur giving me new things to think abt and i love that second, i guess it doesn’t really matter how accurate the wording is, or how popular the specific view is…. i think it matters more that its not what is obvious in their (the right) heads. so even if they do subconsciously believe “black people are bad” they dont think they do, so they will still roll their eyes and scoff
The connotations of saying “Nazis are bad” when nazism hasn’t been an issue since World War II implies that OP is calling more people Nazis than are actually Nazis. It’s like saying “Black lives matter.” Obviously that statement in a vacuum is true but anyone who is saying that isn’t saying it in a vacuum, they are saying it in the context of a leftist movement that reasonable people take issue with. Y’all’s use of “Nazi” here is textbook equivocation.
When she was asked directly how she felt about Nazi she side stepped the question and wouldn’t answer it. That’s the easiest “I hate nazis” or “Nazi are bad” answer ever. Yet she wouldn’t even give it. If you aren’t willing to denounce evilness that says something about you as a person.
It’s not rage bait when people literally believe some of this shit. I live in the south and the amount of times I see this stuff said on local town forums, spoken in person, or heard even in church. It’s not rage bait unless you hear it regularly and it upsets you because you SHOULD be upset hearing people talk about other human beings like that.
there is more nazi-like behavior on the rise. not in any specific popular political group, but its being used to draw people into certain far right groups like the Afd and EDL. its not exactly that nazism is on the rise, its hard to describe…. id say ppl are dabbling with nazi sympathy with their “question everything especially the jews” rhetoric. my main point tho is that elon musk accelerates that “question everything” mindset and convinces ppl groups like the AfD and EDL are the only ones t
well yeah half of yikyak is above drinking age. i just picked up some facebook dialect off you and then u said ur grandfather was in WW2, my grandfather was in vietnam, and absolutely no shade but im just wondering what a 30+ year old is doing arguing politics on yikyak? im 22 (but still in college) and i thought i was approaching unc
