AI’s environmental impact is largely from training tbf, people using GPT for queries consume far less electricity and water than streaming video or music takes. Buddy. You probably watch the newest trends as they emerge on TikTok. This generation has been brainrotted for a looooong time AI isn’t the issue. 90% of people don’t even know how to use it right to begin with, so the stupidity just writes itself into everything we do

It’s not an image. It’s an entire ai episode series. I also never said use ai to make one image. I said if you use it for everything, it’s your fault.

The personal issue is instead of learning a new skill and developing your brain to create the image you had ai do it for you. The medium scale issue is if you really couldn’t on your own, you didn’t support someone who could. The large scale issue is yes, billionaire corporate entities producing large scale slop machines that destroy the environment by stealing material from unconsenting parties and pumping it out to sheeple turning their brains to mush by using it

I do occasionally get on TikTok, but I have bachelors degrees in applied mathematics and actuarial science. My TikTok is mostly professional related or stem based. I never said AI was bad. I said people who watch fruit love Island and use AI for every single thing are the reason nobody can do anything for themselves anymore.

That is a point, but they are still contributing. I meant it with more emphasis of people depending upon entertainment from ai fruit characters and relying to a ai chat box for every question or task in life. I am an educator, and it’s scary how many little kids openly use ai to cheat on all their school work. I believe this will be a massive detriment to our society.

I concur on that front, I am hugely focused on the environment personally so I focused on that edge of the conversation. Also, to say they are still contributing to environmental issues runs into a whole lot of philosophical issues, i wont get it into it unless you want to
