What I mean is, I see equally repulsive issues on both sides. And I’m not so sure I even want to deal with one coalition or the other anymore because American culture is so screwed up that I don’t know what to do with both sides anymore

I see. In terms of my political views, I’m closest to Chinese style imperial governance. Why waste time listening to the people when you could have an entire class of test vetted elites to run your nation. This is my problem with both parties.

I don’t know too much about that system, but I definitely agree that too many people know little to nothing about many political issues. part of the problem, too, is that experts are never consulted about policies related to their fields. policies like the “halve every factory’s CO2 output” (which didn’t change anything other than putting the cleanest ones out of business) would never get passed

pretty much, but sadly the politicians aren’t encouraged in-system to be remotely educated on the esoterica related to many policies as voters will often vote based on what sounds best… imo, advocates and opposition should each write an argument for or against the policy. it’s a small change, but it’s achievable and substantially better than before
