I think we need to stop giving large scale killers attention whatever the characteristics of their crime. One of the main motivations behind these events is fame seeking behavior so it follows that if we as a society stopped paying attention to these killers, less people would try to copy them. In a lot of places there are actually very strict guidelines on how media outlets can cover high profile suicide because as it turns out, mass coverage of suicide leads to more suicide.

Same goes for serial killers. No more true crime crazes, no more weird art film Netflix specials. IMO we should actually try to erase the identities of these people, not glorify them with cool nicknames and tv specials.
