I mean it is a significant part of human culture. I dont care for straight ones myself (as a gay girl) but they have a place

Felt. It adds nothing to the storyline. But majority of people anymore are enamored with porn and the like so they like watching that type of stuff and obviously when movies and shows are made they have to think about what the general public want to see. They have no true role. Closed door romance gets the message across they’re doing the dirty, if the producers/story writers feel it’s necessary to infer. But actually seeing it gives absolutely nothing.

yeah but if its not a romance movie, 9 times out of 10 , seeing someone getting railed adds nothing to the story

I mean sex is a pretty key part of most relationships? That being said i skip them myself usually (unless its a well done lesbian one, shout out arcane), but i do understand their role when theyre done well (they arent always done well though, clearly)

This is a very. Protestant take. You can not like the scenes but saying theres no point to them is just wrong

Sex can mean multiple things, storyline-wise. It can be intimacy, a confession, a realization, betrayal, etc. again, they can be done poorly and be gratuitous, but they CAN be done well and serve a relevant purpose

Protestant 😂 none of the things you list have ever been communicated through sex scenes personally. But can easily be portrayed through other means.

I mean i skipped the jayce/mel scene myself but both scenes are integral to the story

You cannot honestly believe that there is absolutely zero storytelling or narrative value for showing a sex scene. Its a deeply intimate interaction between 2 characters and you can assume tons and tons of things about their relationship and personalities through a 30 second sex scene without any dialogue
