This might be a dumb question but is this information not already online for the government to look at wether or not the ID itself is online? Genuinely not trying to be a jerk I’m just confused

Some is some isn’t but it there are massive infosec issues and physical ID has benefits like not running out of batteries and (if done correctly) being more accessible to poor and homeless people

A lot of it is and if someone/agency in the government wants the information they could probably put it together either way, and that’s the argument people will try to make for it, but that’s not the point. This is trying to tie it the concept of the government having full and immediate control over the individual up with a neat little bow. In other words, it’s being blatant with it, and trying to make the American people okay with it.

And for me it reminds me a lot of that comment Biden made about why owning a gun doesn’t protect you from the government, along the lines of “what’s your AR-15 going to do against a fighter jet”, with the implication being that since the government theoretically can overpower you even if you own a gun, then there’s no reason to own a gun to defend yourself against the government. Like that’s completely missing the point

Ironically bidens statement of what’s a ar15 going to do to a fighter jet is subliminally inciting violence against the American people
