I have no hate AT ALL against the trans community but the debate around trans people and athletics has been confusing me for a while. As a female athlete I personally don’t think trans women should participate in female sports because of—(in comments)

sports have always been about inherent biological advantages. if they really mattered, the maximum height for the NBA would be 6ft. there are cisgender female athletes with higher testosterone than cis men. humans much more diverse than we realize

Trans people that have been on hormone replacement therapy for a minimum of 2 years have no gender based biological advantage. Trans men build and gain muscle and strength just as easily as cis men, trans women lose their muscle and strength to the same degree that a cis woman has (though, working out would help both trans and cis women regain some muscle and strength). As #1 said, sports have always been about inherent bio advantages. Trans people may still happen to have these other advantages

This is a common sense, based take. You have a normal iq.

—very obvious biological differences in males and females. For example, a lot of trans women are excelling in female sports mostly bc their biology gives them a huge advantage. Males have “larger muscles, hearts, and lungs which gives them more physical power.” It’s one of the reasons why you don’t hear about trans men dominating in male sports bc their bodies aren’t at the same level as their bio male counterparts. Obv when you include hormone changes this debate becomes more complicated

I’m open to any explanations or different opinions because I’m genuinely curious about this. I personally think that trans athletes have every right to be involved in athletics, and a good solution to this would be having unisex sports teams or trans only sports teams the same way we have exclusively male/female sports teams. Obv the world isn’t ready for that yet but it’s a hopeful thing to aspire to

i actually agree with you. im pretty liberal but i get a lot of hate for saying the same thing trans ppl deserve rights. i just think its unfair that only women's sports/ bathrooms/ spaces are becoming gender neutral while male spaces are largely left alone. i think there should be THREE separate categories- male, female, and gender neutral for sports and bathrooms

Many "male" sports are already gender neutral a woman could join if she has the skill level and marketability for a league/team to want to recruit her Problem is where do you put trans women? The biological impacts of transitioning usually mean they wouldn't be competitive in men's leagues anymore and there's not enough demand for a trans/enby sports league to be even remotely financially viable

Aside from the scientific backing which you can look up if you like, I am female and I took a male dose of testosterone for 2 1/2 years. My sibling is a trans woman who has been on Estrogen for 1 year. We have had this exact experience I described, and she is not even on Testosterone blockers. I lost my strength and most muscle after stopping testosterone (I still work out)
