Correct. The scripture people usually like to quote about “a man shall not lie with a man” was in direct relation to the fact that wayyyy back then women (married) and children were considered a man’s property. So it’s actually saying don’t be a pedo or a cheater. Why exactly would God care about same sex relationships? He made animals many of which have same sex relationships, or transition naturally, can give themselves abortions, etc.
Idk I found the Torah/Bible weird now because by fundamentalism only same-sex between men is a sin but says nothing about like being into men. Also supports/condones non-consensual intercourse, (implied) induced abortions, and polyamory. Idk I also wouldn’t know what would be cannon too
Think about this for a second…why weren’t these words “correctly retranslated” thousands of years ago when homosexuality wasn’t as popular? It almost seems like people are just trying to manipulate the original text to make themselves look less sinful, this is coming from someone who BATTLES homosexuality and doesn’t live in it.
So loving someone is a disease? Why? I mean idk if loving the Devil is all sane lmao but dating a man as a man isn’t wrong. Yes God created man and woman but he doesn’t oppose man and man/woman and woman. If he did, then that’s not holy at all. If God wanted us to love thy neighbor, not treat anyone with distaste, then why the fuck would he say being gay is wrong. He would want us to value them and see them as HUMAN. Anyone who opposes that, they aren’t human.
That’s fair. I’m not gonna judge how you live since that’s what a true nice person would do. All these “Christians” aren’t so loving. I don’t go to church super often anymore, I was more religious in my childhood but I still know how to understand someone without bashing them for who they are. I don’t believe Christians are superior as many think they are and their religion is
You see it’s not about going to church it’s about having the most important relationship we can ever have, through Jesus! I haven’t been to church in months and I’m more knowledgeable in the word NOW than I ever have been on top of YES HEARING GODS VOICE, people stopped believing in it and the answer is there, “they stopped believing in it” believe me I love everyone but love is correction and that’s what I’m doing myself by abstaining from gay ways and praying for a change.
Also if there was no judgment then there is no real love because GOD is judgment and tells us in scripture to judge with authority, this doesn’t mean make fun of people and talk down it means if someone isn’t living Christ like then we CAN AND NEED to judge them because those are worldly ways!
Brother you can’t say “isn’t an issue” and “or an issue at all” that’s saying you aren’t certain, what we do know is Christ died for us and said It was finished, and we do know the BIBLE stays the same while the world changes, so my question to you is why NOW are people saying being gay isn’t a sin, because the way I see it is God designed male and female to reproduce life because he says that is good, this is all a satanic movement and again I struggle with this and I’m even saying it😭
the Bible never changed but we sure as hell suck ass at interpreting it. pointing out that an interpretation is wrong isnt saying the Bible changed lol. do you even know the verse that puts homosexuality as a sin or do you just blindly believe it? there’s only one line that says it’s a sin if you take it wildly out of context 💔
I did, I’m saying there aren’t any verses that actually say it’s a sin when taken in context </3 there’s also no note of it in the New Testament which says a lot btw, considering how we ignore a lot of the Old Testament when it’s convenient but say homosexuality is bad because it fits the narrative…
shame on you for minimizing the Bible to such an extent. it was written by dozens of writers to hundreds of intended audiences and addressed thousands of situations. shame on you for not caring about your own beliefs, instead arguing online like a modern Pharisee. Jesus would be disappointed in you.
On which issues? I got this strictly from the Old Testament and took the 613 commandments. Lev 18:23 - a man shall not have sexual relationships with a man is banning same-sex (sexual) intercourse with men. (Note: Doesn’t ban same-sex same sex relationships with women and our modern concept of homosexuality didn’t really exist the same way so this is my way of interpreting it).
the Leviticus verse is probs the worse argument you have for homosexuality being a sin. for one, because it’s a basic theological fact that Jesus replaced many of the laws of Israel for Christians. and two, because if you take that verse at face value, you also believe it’s a sin to: - Eat animal fat (Lev 3:17) - Touch an animal carcass (Lev 5:2) - Not getting a haircut, & penalty is death (Lev 10:6) - Eating pork (Lev 11:4-7) - Mixing fabrics in clothing, so you are sinning NOW (Lev 19:19)
And I agree to some extent. The reason why I bring in it up is because a lot of Christians use the Old testaments laws and morality as their own and is their foundation. Note that it’s also a belief that “God never changes”. So his views here wouldn’t change here even if we were not to follow the law and follow him. There is also some implied verses in the New Testament with Paul but even Paul disputes himself and some books are disputed if they are even his.
I understand. I read the law recently as more of a want to understand Gods nature and morality as less of a law or pious guide but as a reflection of morality and analysis to things of that time as supposedly this is the same God. What I’m trying to say is while I believe we are not supposed to keep the Old covenant it’s still relevant as Gods nature and that applies to the 5 books of the law in my opinion.
That’s valid, however it still means you can’t cherry pick. I hate to point it out, but your username is sinful according to the laws against overt sexual displays. I don’t know if you believe homosexuality is a sin, but you have to admit that saying “homosexuality is a sin” while sinning yourself is extremely hypocritical.
my point isnt that you’re a bad or sinful person, but that people who argue about homosexuality being a sin also sin themselves. you shouldn’t criticize others when you haven’t plucked the splinter from your own eye (hypocrisy is a theme in the Bible which people seem to not have comprehended…)
Personally as someone who has grown up fundamentalist Christian I did. However, as I’ve grown I think it’s just a personal belief between you and God and generally no one should be binded to anything in the Law. However, I’m losing faith (not faith mainly respect/reverence/love) for God bc the interpretation I believe in which is a different topic but that’s why I said by fundamentalism. I’m not a fundamentalist but everyone around me is and homosexuality being a sin is a fundamental viewpoint.
