The healthcare system is terrible cause how am I paying 6k for an ER visit just for them to run all those tests and tell me to drink water and sleep more but when I go to the clinic a week later they tell me I have critical anemia and need transfusions

They seriously couldn’t say this at the ER? Like how was my medical advice to drink water/electrolytes but the I try a different clinic they say from the last tests they got from the ER and the ones they did now my body isn’t making any blood.

The ER/hospitals literally gets paid not to tell you anything unless it’s insanely severe just for you to come in when it’s really bad so they can treat you and get more money off of it because “you didn’t come in sooner”

That’s so terrible especially since everything is so expensive and it doesn’t help that they aren’t upfront with everything they’re charging until after the bill

Exactly, that’s also a sales technique. Like hey we’re not gonna tell you what it costs we’re just gonna “do what needs to be done” and have you sign for it afterwards. But if you ever ask for the medical bill receipt, it’s complete horse shit

I work in an ER and that’s just not true. The purpose of the ER is to treat you for emergencies and keep you alive in the short term. They aren’t there to work up long term health problems because otherwise those already long wait times would be infinite. If they think more diagnostic work/ treatment needs to be done that isn’t imminently life threatening they refer you
