
That’s not what I believe. I believe the issue isn’t access to guns, it’s a lack of education and respect for them. If it was just age+gun we’d have a lot more teen related gun deaths, but adults are the overwhelming majority And again, brains never stop developing. The 25 stat was from a study that capped at 25. Our brains are constantly evolving our entire lives (until old age and mental decline), and frontal lobe development can happen at any point in young adulthood UP TO 25/26 or beyond
i looked into it a bit and yes 25 isn't the magic number of suddenly being more mature but it is a good landmark for developmental progress. i would not say that a 13 year old is as mature as an 18 year old, or that an 18 year old is as mature as a 25 year old. And a lot of studies seem to say that maturity actually caps at around 32, to further emphasize my point that adolescents should not be buying guns. more education would help, but not as much as having less guns in general.
