Maybe several failed close friendships hold some merit, but when it’s only failed romances it just seems uneducated

it’s because people are overly biased towards their own anecdotal experience. this then gets compounded in online echo chambers and suddenly they think their experience is universal fact. deep down they may know they’re wrong but that would require them to put in actual work to solve their problems instead of inhaling massive loads of confirmation bias on the internet to further convince themselves that their (often incorrect) opinion is actually right.
