It’s not shoving an ideology down your throat. Not one thing was mentioned about you having to believe it. It was purely meant to be a positive comment. There actually is lots of evidence behind it. Everyone here is citing science. Science has actually proven many things the bible said to be true (including the flood). There also isn’t anything that science has disproven in the bible. On top of all that, the amount of cross references in the bible which no other non-fiction text in history has come close to.

upvote -4 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #23 4w

Sure, there’s likely people who caused some commotion but that’s true of pretty much every time jn any culture. There are always people going against the grain. Even the figure Pontius Pilate barely has any single mention outside of the biblical texts. Even the four gospel writers have a ton of contradictions and even historical inaccuracies for who would be crucified and what practices were common.

upvote 9 downvote

You must have misread “contradictions” as “cross references”. Scientific and archaeological evidence do not support biblical accounts. Quite the opposite.

upvote 10 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #5 4w

I’ve studied this for years. You can do the research if you’d like. It does have the most cross references by far. Contradictions that you might be thinking of are small details, however, this proves it more because the Bible is written by many authors over a few hundred years in many places that all tell the same story. If you take 5 people for example, that all witnessed a car accident, they would all have some different details but tell the same story. Look up a chart of the cross references

upvote -7 downvote
default user profile icon

You also won’t be able to find true scientific evidence that legitimately disproves the Bible. You can, however, find lots of evidence that proves it. All it takes is a little bit of research

Taking things out of context with no explanation doesn’t prove anything. The universe, time, and existence itself being created from nothing and an explosion that creates a universe from nothing is what sounds crazy. An all powerful God that created existence and a universe makes much more sense. It also makes sense that that God can perform miracles which hundreds of eye witnesses all attested to. You say it’s a cult because you don’t want to look into the facts. Have you ever been to a church service, read the bible, or researched it? Not a cult, how does one have to “intentionally obtuse” to not pretend, but to have faith? I would argue the opposite. By hardening your hearts and closed mindedness. Yeah, grew up around the indoctrination. Even as a kid, I knew better. And so what if the calendar commonly used now has connection to that? It’s not the only calendar system in the world and doesn’t mean your mythology is any more real than any other. 😂 Japan having an emperor who claims to be descended from a god doesn’t mean it’s true. It’s clear that nothing said will change your mind which is fine. For the record an emperor making a claim with no factual evidence is nothing compared to Christianity. If you choose to not believe it or research it then that is your choice.
