Ngl it happened back in 2022 but they finally figured out a way for nuclear power to produce more energy Than the laser ignition used to initiate it in a controlled nuclear fusion event. It’s only gotten more efficient since.

But the fact that the world as a whole had renewables overtake coal in terms of energy production as of mid 2025 would probably have been a better fact to use

True! I did see that one. Also the drop in coal in India and China is big news, and how solar is replacing diesel generators in a lot of developing countries
