My hot take is age limits are stupid for representatives. A better idea is cognitive tests that the public can actually see. If they are old and can do the job well who cares. Term limits are a different discussion but I don’t really support those either

I think being able to recall politicians at any time is a much better and more worthwhile endeavor than just putting limits on how they get into office. It allows voters to remove incompetent or unpopular politicians without waiting a whole election cycle, and would significantly change the political climate to be less centered around the election cycle, making sustained and effective social movements more feasible.

right now people will win some kind of small win like marriage equality but once the election cycle is over or the bill is passed all the momentum goes away and it becomes near impossible to use that to win bigger more important wins, or to protect hard won civil rights from being stripped back by future politicians because everyone related to that movement has since moved on and in order to do something else you have to reassemble a whole social movement
