Would it be wrong to raise kids to say yes ma’am but not yes sir. Idk I just worked in service and realized how many men wanna hear minors say it so bad I don’t wanna have my kids in that position.

Yes ma’am for women and yessum for men would be a good alternative

I mean you can literally twist anything into sounding perverse or fucked up. Sir and ma’am are more of a respect thing.

Seems sexist here.

Its like another way of saying daddy in the sense of aura and tone

Right and even when it’s not that it seems like a power thing whereas when it’s women it’s more like a mutually respectful type of way

And what's wrong with kids saying daddy ? The custom of children calling adults sir/ma'am is already a power thing

Cause you shouldn’t have children w someone you’d be worried abt that w but when it comes to strangers it’s a whole different thing. Like I mainly mean not saying yes sir to strangers or ppl you aren’t that close to.

I’m coming from like a southern politeness type of perspective like if yes ma’am and sir is out the door when I have kids they won’t say it but like it’s just nice to say it to ppl but when I worked in service men would repeatedly ask me yes questions and it felt obvious they were reaching for like power/showing they’re above me or to be creepy
