and they say women have a second “puberty” at 20-21 so maybe that’s why

Probably hormonal. Hate to tell you but it doesn’t end at a certain age. My oldest sister is in her mid 40s and she’s got acne from PCOS.

So for me, my acne has been gone for at least the last 3 years (23 now), and all I did to better regulate it is by drinking water and Gatorade, tweaked my diet, and walked more. If you’ve already tried these methods, maybe see about getting a referral to a dermatologist or an OBGYN to see if they may be able to do a blood test to see if there’s a recommended treatment for it!

actually it’s very common to get oilier(??) skin and acne in your 20s. i had completely unproblematic skin in my teens but it got worse like right when i turned 20 lol. you should be good by 29/30😭

Topical clindamycin gel saved me. Your doctor can prescribe it to you

If it’s not hormonal and you’re washing pillowcases like u said, then watch out for vaping, alcohol consumption, diet ( fried foods, low antioxidant intake, lack of vitamins, seed oils, fast food, high sugar, and processed foods all are 🚩), amount of sleep, research your skincare maybe it’s causing it, and then stress. As a guy, I used to struggle big time with it but like literally just changing how I ate, sleeping an extra hour a day, changing my skincare routine, and meditating helped it.

Mine didn’t go away until late 24 😬 on the bright side, your probaly age physically slower than the average person, so you’ll feel better than most people do when you’re older.

Join the club 🙃 I still have chronic hormonal acne at 24. One time treatment of Accutane wasn't enough

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but acne doesn’t stop. It just becomes more manageable. If yours stops entirely, you’re one of the lucky few.

Try wiping them down with antiseptic wipes every so often! The acne bacteria builds up

yea but that’s cuz she has pcos. most peoples skin by that age stops producing so much oil. dry, dull skin is generally the bigger problem at that age (unless you have an actual condition like that)

You can have hormonal acne at any age tho. Not just because of PCOS. Especially if you have cystic acne.

well ofc, but it’s not common to have breakouts unless you have a condition is what i’m saying. much less widely common at that age. also the reason a lot of anti aging products are comedogenic, because their use is to treat older skin that prioritizes hydration.

Anytime sweat sits on my skin for a prolonged period of time i break out regardless of how regular i clean the goggles, i need to stop stressing myself out in lab so much and i should be chill
