Same I’ve been accused of using AI due to using em dashes and just the way I write due to autism :/

My Thesis advisor said to me, “I know your writing, so I know it’s not AI, but you write like a bot.” I’m not sure how to feel.

Honestly if you know how to use them then it won’t look like AI. The reason AI uses so many dashes is because it’s the easiest punctuation mark to misuse.

Nah you can pry the em dash from my cold hands. I will not censor myself to avoid confusion with a robot that writes worse than me

Just save different versions of your documents or find a browser extension that tracks every word you write Don’t make yourself appear dumber just to appease some old ass who can’t differentiate between human and AI writing

Same! I feel like it’s mainly a problem for autistics because of the clarifications the dashes can be used for. I hate having to think “hm…are they going to think I’m using AI for this” whenever I type anything

its great for me because i always hated them for no reason but now i have a good reason to hate on them

i feel like chat used a em dash where a comma would've been just fine and actual em dashes could be replaced with a period but is based off of the subject of the sentence before but different predicate
