I mean, you must understand that some of those characters have historical and traditional importance (Ariel, Jesus) and trying to conform them to one ethnicity other than what they were for the sole purpose of changing the race is obviously distasteful. Not sure how an anthro can be black lol, I mean there’s fur in the way.

kinda confused by this post alot of those are non human characters why would they have a human race? like twilight sparkle is a magical pony and sonic is a blue hedgehog and freddy / bonnie aren't even alive they are robots am i missing somthing?

The Ariel one is definitely debatable but I could definitely see her being poc-coded in some light (mermaids have their own society’s and literally have to hide from humans for their own safety bc ykk, doesn’t that sound familiar?), but the Jesus one feels accurate like he was literally born in an African country and described as having woolly hair, darker skin, etc

just for the shit of fan-casts, au’s, fan-art, etcc like sure if u wanna be unfun the ponies could always just stick to their og designs all the time no matter what, but that gets repetitive so ppl like to expand and recreate designs and storylines and shit. Like yeah it’s fucking stupid that it bothers ppl that those characters could potentially maybe not be white all the time!

For reference, Jesus was described with bronze skin, and was born in Nazareth, which is more Middle Eastern than African. Characters like King Triton, the mermaid itself, come from European stories.

so what? Othello was a black character but written by a European dude, I was saying in theory Ariel could def pass for anything else since being ‘white’ isnt directly tied to the story itself in any way

The original author for the character from Little Mermaid. in the early 19th century, Han Andersen, described her skin as like a “clear and delicate rose leaf”, and having blue eyes. The only thing Disney seemed to change was the hair to red.

Unless you are intentionally fixated on skin color such that you would change the actual skin tone, there was no reason for the modern adaptation to do so. Also, will correct that the author never specified hair color.

Isn’t that just the Spider-Man Multi-Universe? Miles Morales is treated as another character from Peter Parker lol. I mean multiverse wise there’s probably a black Wolverine too but that’s not really a political push-in that’s just the nature of the multiverse

god forbid I want more rep other than Tiana just bc a character is described a certain way in the og doesn’t mean you can’t expand on it or make them slightly different it’s still weird how people get at the mere thought of a poc existing in their violently white media 😞
