Genesis 1:27: The concept of Imago Dei (the Image of God) suggests that all humans possess inherent, equal worth. Galatians 3:28: "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." This verse is often viewed as the spiritual "death knell" for social hierarchies within the Christian community.
Exodus 21 applied specifically to debt slavery (indentured servitude) among Hebrews. It was a social safety net for the extreme poor, not the race-based chattel slavery of the 1800s. And is part of the Old Testament, as Christians we now have the New Testament which clearly states the equality of all people.
Really? Here’s Levictus 25: 44-46: 44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly
Exodus 21:16: "Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death." 1 Timothy 1:9–10: In the New Testament, the Greek word andrapodistēs (often translated as "slave traders" or "men-stealers") is listed among those who are "lawless and disobedient," placing them alongside murderers and liars
So Exodus is about the Israelites being freed from this treatment, this is included to give you context to how Gods people were being treated in Egypt. It’s not a command from Him, as your photo states it is “A law regarding Hebrew Servitude” so this is likely a law that was in place in Egypt. God later tells us that no man should be a slave, neither Jew nor Gentile Rich or Poor, so he is telling you that these laws are WRONG!!
I asked if you can consent to being a slave if you’re born into it. I didn’t ask if God regulated slavery, which he would still have to somewhat permit if he did, I didn’t ask about how christians pretend they were the only group fighting to end slavery when there’s letters from christian’s advocating for it Answer what I asked
