Im a janitor and i have a bachelors in science with years of internships and my own solo grant-funded project. Paid minimum wage no benefits. Literally nowhere else ever got back to me despite applying nonstop

I wouldn’t at all say useless. MBAs have huge value and a PhD should be in line with that. It puts her in a weird position though where she’s overqualified for a lot of roles or companies won’t want to pay a premium for the PhD so she’ll get overlooked. With that degree you’re looking for big, high paying roles and in this job market it could easily take a year to land one

As long as OP’s studies were paid through a stipend and they leverage their experience and credentials well then i think they’ll be ok in the long run. The opportunity cost of losing years of full time wages while in school is the biggest problem
