nobody said "troll = psychopath". basically every human on earth expresses varying degrees of antisocial traits or behaviors from time to time. part of why kids aren't diagnosed with many personality disorders is because it's literally normal for them to possess those traits. that doesn't mean everyone or every kid has ASPD. there is, however, a strong correlation between those traits and "trolling" behaviors
yeah back when i was a child on xbox... but then i grew up, developed a better sense of empathy and self awareness and realized just how immoral, immature and pathetic it is to be compelled to bait negative reactions out of people for entertainment. and frankly it shows a deep lack of self respect when people engage with the world this way. i pity people who find pleasure in that
this part is more armchair psych than researched analysis but it makes me wonder whether you got too much or too little negative attention in childhood. clearly there was an imbalance somewhere. anyway, it's all very isolating to the troll, which makes sense given that their natural habitats are impersonal platforms like reddit, 4chan and twitter
i think the most embarrassing part about trolling is this right here. when you reach an impasse with somebody. you're not getting any reaction besides pretty bland and unemotional responses but you're compelled by this impulse to continue regardless. you can't help it. i could get you to reply to me for days. saying absolutely nothing snd not even getting that catharsis of pissing somebody off. it reminds me of addiction
Dark triad is machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy, with Machiavellianism and narcissism there’s a sense of entitlement and active manipulation to gain power and control, “rage baiting” online is just plain loser shit and no indicative of people who do actually possess these traits
"hey you shouldn't drink and take antidepressants" "yes i should" "no you shouldn't. doctors and psychiatrists would tell you the same. it's dangerous" "spEAkiNg FOr the PROFeSSIoNAlS?!" stating the dominant position on a topic in a field of study is not speaking for the professionals in that field of study. it's called having deference for people with relevant education, expertise and information. but i know many of you pseudo-intellectuals know nothing of that
Taking a nuanced and debated topic and comparing it to something like drugs which has randomized clinical trial data to back it isn’t really the same now is it? Maybe don’t make statements and “defer” to professionals if your last name doesn’t have Dr. before it. Reading a few papers and nitpicking to prove your point doesn’t make you an intellectual it makes you a biased idiot
The ONLY time I ever saw the appeal was to get trolls to back the fuck off by using their own game. Tried it one time and it worked, but like a day later felt really gross about it and decided to never do it again, even went back and deleted the comments about two months later because I hated the idea that that behavior could potentially be traced back to me
they're so lost... the whole point i made is that saying "these professionals say this and i trust their research and dedication to the truth" is not "speaking for the professionals" and they're like "erm um ackshually antidepressants are tested with trials 🙄" like yeah you dodo. that's not the poin
