We don’t talk enough about going from a straight-A high school student to barely pulling C’s in college. It’s honestly one of the hardest things I’ve gone through — not just the grades, but suddenly questioning who I am and what I’m capable of.

Going through this exact same thing. Always been someone who greatly values my education and my performance, it’s what I care about more than anything… but college flying by and being unable to keep up with everything enough has me questioning my entire existence and sense of self

You all are more than you grades. Experiencing this just makes me grateful for the opportunity to infact attend college. C’s get degrees, yet even so passing or failing is not to your detriment. We either keep pushing for it or find something else we are better suited in. Either way, you each are great human beings, I’m sure of it.

High school didn’t prepare y’all. Y’all are Covid kids who were passed along , who were only taught how to answer standardized tests so the school could get money. Y’all weren’t taught HOW to learn or study, just memorization. Unfortunately, everyone has a fuck around and find out semester. Usually, it’s the first semester.

The thing is I’ve been in college for 3 years now and still feel this way. I try as hard as possible, I stay up until 2-3 am every night studying and going homework

Test anxiety? The fact that public education has failed y’all since 2020? It took me ten years to get an AA cause I didn’t know what to do. Also depends on your major.

COVID happened my senior year of HS and I disagree. if we’re being honest teaching doesn’t look the same. profs go over what they feel like they have to and the rest is on you. Never was the case in HS. I can’t speak on the standardized testing thing too much, because i believe it’s always been a funding thing. I don’t believe covid is where you should place the blame, more so should fall onto the systems we have in place to educate us.

If you’re staying up till 3am every night and you’re not seeing progress. You need to take some time over winter break and look at what you’re doing. Time to work smarter not harder.

worst mentality to have you do realize you have to get a job after college right

depending on what you’re doing, jobs don’t look at your grades. they just see that you have a degree.

If you read my past comments, you’d know I’m up until 3am doing homework and studying. Not everyone struggling is ‘slacking.’ Comments like yours are exactly why people feel ashamed of being overwhelmed. Get off your high horse.

I mean, I definitely do feel a difference with them, but the thing is I never took meds in high school and I was able to do just fine. I really think it is the college Work that it’s just so much harder. And how nitpicky certain professors are…. I once had a professor takeoff half the points of a question because it was a math class and my angle was a degree off

That degree means the difference between a building standing or falling. At least you got half credit.

It wasn’t like a math equation… I was supposed to replicate a triangle… It was a simple math question for elementary schoolers (I’m going to be a teacher). All that matters imo was that I obviously knew what I was supposed to do. Human errors can happen on paper. Especially drawing stuff like that

it sounds to me like you’re using every excuse possible to place the blame on other people, whether that be professors or meds or whatever 🤷🏻‍♀️ all i’m saying is college is supposed to be hard maybe you should go to a tutor if you’re really studying that much and it isn’t working

No one is making excuses. Someone asked about ADHD and I answered honestly. I also mentioned strict grading because it’s part of the reality I’m dealing with. I study, I stay up late, and I’m doing what I can. Struggling doesn’t automatically mean I’m blaming everyone else.

Have you considered going to tutoring ? Getting help with concepts you struggle with?
