My brother has been struggling with mental health for the past 5 years, last night we had our first bible study together. God is great!

If only christians could take your advice ("if you disagree keep it to yourself"). If you can understand why a Christian would reject that directive then you are one step closer to understanding why a non Christian might as well.

Yah as a mentally unstable person I need to stay farrrrr away from organized religions 😭 organized religions are like gasoline on a fire when it comes to most mental illnesses (unless it's just non-psychotic stable depression ig)

Who are you to say? Many people are able to turn around when giving their life to Christ. There is nothing wrong with going to the God of the universe. And if you disagree about it then keep it to yourself and let someone be happy. Although, if you’d like to discuss the Bible in a theological respect I’m all for it

I get that, I said more so as way to say stop pissing on someone’s parade. The old adage of if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it stands firm

One person's parade is another person's riot. Putting someone with mental health issues into an environment where they are encouraged to entertain new beliefs about the nature of reality based on peer pressure and the strength of other's faith is abusive.

Well, my mom's dad had Schizophrenia and the church preyed on him and turned him into a complete lost cause who refused all meds, lived most of his later life in a state asylum, then died on the streets thinking he was the son of god and would resurrect My best friend's mom is Schizophrenic, the church preyed on her, encouraging her delusions and encouraging the child abuse she put my bestie through trying to cleanse that poor girl of demons her entire childhood (they are no longer in contact)

And I myself am very vulnerable to psychosis and delusions so I gotta stay away I respect all religions and think theology is super interesting, but it's very dangerous for me personally I'm very happy that it helps you tho!!

He’s doing better, he’s happier, and he finally understands that he’s loved. If coming to Christ isn’t your thing, fine—but who are you to take a stranger’s recovery, twist it through your own bitterness, and call it “abuse” just to feel intellectually superior? That says far more about you than it ever will about him. Accusing people of abuse because you dislike their beliefs is lazy, arrogant, and honestly embarrassing. Find Christ dude

I’m sorry you went through that, and I’ll pray for you and your family, brother. But I wouldn’t go as far as blaming the church or Christ for complex psychiatric illness or for the damage caused by neglect and abuse.

I’m sorry your perspective of the church has been hurtful, I pray that Christ’s truth and comfort can reach you despite past hurt.

I completely understand why you’d feel that way mental struggles are real, and some religious experiences can feel overwhelming. But think about the story of Jesus and the man tormented by a legion of demons. He was suffering beyond what we can imagine, but Jesus didn’t make it worse, he brought healing, peace, and freedom. Jesus isn’t gasoline on the fire; He’s the way out of the fire
