I never shipped either one but I was kind of hoping Byler would happen just because it would be monumental in mainstream queer content, which we don’t get much of… people gloating is odd to me.

Of course not! The point was it didn’t have to be about queer rights and it shouldn’t have been. It would’ve been a case of a major queer relationship in a show that wasn’t revolving around gay characters, which is something that almost never happens. I’d like to see queer people included in the mainstream without needing a separate genre or category for queer characters.
